I'd love to be your buddy!

 

How does a 10 year old adorable, loveable toy poodle/bichon mix who’s only 7 pounds end up as a stray and at a high kill shelter??? Poor Higgins was doomed the minute he entered his cell. He was thrown in with some bigger dogs and the poor guy had such rotten teeth that he couldn’t eat – so there he stayed, huddled in a corner slowly starving which the other dogs devoured the hard kibble he was unable to chew. Thank Goodness for a a concerned shelter worker who realized what was happening and was able to get him transferred to the isolation ward where he was fed soft food which he gobbled up. Rescue was the only way this little guy was getting out of there alive. Lucky for Higgins he had a fan club who advocated for him and he came up on our radar. Needless to say I was moved and my heart went out to him. Once we got his teeth taken care and got him all cleaned up he was a new dog! Higgins has an amazing personality – funny and super affectionate and the most gregarious pooch in the pack. He does the longest sustained Bichon Wave I’ve seen which reminds me of a little circus dog. He gets along great with other dogs and is spunky and totally healthy as the complete blood panel we had done proves. This special little guy has plenty of years left and each day he shares with some new lucky owner will be a gift for both.
